I'd like to use today's post as a way to shout out to my accountability group. Around 10 years ago, I had tried to do at home workouts. This was back when you'd receive a small binder of DVD's and paper program materials. Like many of us that start a new program, we start off 110%. Then after a few weeks, some unplanned life events and declining motivation, we don't finish the program. This happened to me with multiple Beachbody programs. Why? Because I didn't have anyone to be accountable to, and the only person I was letting down was myself.

In 2015, I decided to go back to gym-based workouts. I was paying close to $100 a month for 8 classes/month at a high-end fitness studio. I loved the workouts and was very committed to going. I did that for 3 years until my priorities changed once again.

I turned 35 in 2018. That birthday was a different one for me as it lead to some soul searching and thinking about where I wanted to be in the next 5 years. This led me to working on my financial well-being. As part of this process, it didn't seem realistic to spend $100 a month on 8 classes at my current studio. So I decided to check out Beachbody once again since my cousin is a coach and I was inspired by her posts on Facebook and Instagram.

I signed up for Beachbody on Demand in November 2018. Since December 1, 2018, I've completed multiple workout programs and have worked out more days than ever before. What changed? This time I had a supportive coach, who had a network of coaches and individuals that kept each other accountable. Today there are 55 of us in the group. Large enough to get a variety of personalities and fitness levels, but small enough to feel accountable enough to make sure I post my workout daily and comment to support the others that are part of our group. I fell off the wagon a bit this past holiday season, and it didn't take long for my coach to reach out to me to make sure I was ok. Does accountability mean that I am shamed if I took an unplanned rest day? No, quite the opposite. Since most of us are also working moms, we know that life happens and sometimes you need to take a break. They are understanding and encouraging and motivate you to jump back in the next day.

Do you have someone in your life to keep you accountable with your health and fitness journey? If not, contact me and I can help.
