If you read my post about Cardio Blend day, you'll remember me mentioning how Barre Blend, and Beachbody on Demand offers flexibility in scheduling and what I would consider to a reason for shifting my workout schedule.

Lean Legs Blend was scheduled to be my last workout for the week, Friday night, but being a mom will always come first. This year, one of our goals for the New Year was to have a weekly family game night. That happens to be Friday Family Game Night. So while I could have tried to rush us through the games so I could get my workout in, I intentionally chose not to. I know that my kids will grow up fast, and that I need to cherish these moments while I have them. We wrapped up Game Night after 9:00pm on Friday, and while I could have still gotten my workout in, after working all day and a long week, I decided to move Lean Legs Blend to Saturday morning. The plus side to this is that it was my first opportunity to try the Beachbody Performance product, Energize. Make sure you watch the end of my video review for more on how I felt using Energize for the first time.

You may remember from Core Blend that I was dreading Lean Legs Blend. After working our legs and booty all week, I was anticipating this one to be brutal. Maybe it was that I took Friday night off, or maybe it was the Energize, but today's workout wasn't bad. Was it easy, no, but the overall workout was a great combination of some new lower body moves, some added core and upper body components, and a bit of a dance party. I hope you can see in the time lapse portion of the video how much fun Shae and I were having during the last half of the workout. Today's workout was a great blend of Barre, cardio and Pilates-inspired moves. I burned 234 calories in just over 34 minutes.

Lean Legs Blend was a great way to end week 1. I'm excited to see what next week has to offer. In addition, I'm excited that Shae, who has never completed a traditional workout program, was also excited to see what next week will bring. If you watched my Core Blend review, you'll see that I gave Shae a little extra shout out for the effort and commitment that she has shown thus far. She's a typical 14-year old who like most, spends a lot of time on her phone and is generally not active outside of basketball season. So far, she's consistently shown up on the mat with me, in addition to basketball, and having PE this quarter at school.

One final note as I wrap up the posts for this week and finish up my meal prep. If you've seen the Barre Blend workout calendar, you'll notice that we follow a similar structure each week:

Monday- Full Body Blend

Tuesday- Booty Blend

Wednesday- Cardio Blend

Thursday- Core Blend

Friday- Lean Legs Blend

Saturday/Sunday- Rest & Replenish

Given that we will be following a similar structure, I will be moving from daily workout reviews to weekly summary reviews. Of course, if anything especially exciting comes up, I'll be sure to add some ad hoc posts. I plan to record throughout the week, but rather than 5 videos and 5 posts each week, look out for a weekly summary video/post, with some other regular blog posts about more general health/fitness/Beachbody topics.

I hope you've all enjoyed the posts so far. Once again, I'm open to suggestions, feedback or even topic requests.

Until next time,

Cheers!
