I'm writing this post a few days behind, as I have already finished the first week of Barre Blend. It's Sunday night in the Becker household. The kiddos have school in the morning and hubby and I will kick off another week at our full-time jobs. Tonight is a great day for some reflection of the past week. This morning, I was lucky enough to be able to attend a Super Weekend event. For those of you that don't know what that is, each quarter, Beachbody coaches gather together to listen to inspirational speakers talk about their journey and give tips on how to be a successful Beachbody coach. In addition, one of the Beachbody Super Trainers come to the event to speak and leads the group in a live workout. While today was scheduled to be a rest day from Barre Blend, I had the opportunity for some HIIT cardio led by Autumn Calabrese! I left the event with a lot to think about as I work to build a team of people that can support each other in their health and fitness journeys.
Anyway, on to my review for day 2: Booty Blend. In all reality, this workout and all of the Barre Blend workouts I've done so far should be categorized as a full body workout. The daily motivation card said "I Am Well-rounded", referring to not only the work to be done on our booties, but also to how we should be as individuals. We started out with the warm up sequence that will start to feel familiar with slight variation depending on we will be working on for the day. Then we get in to the work. While the focus was on the booty, we also worked the quads, shoulders, and core. If you watch the YouTube video I posted below, you'll see that when I asked my daughter how she felt about the workout, she was speechless! One nice added bonus to booty day was a few sequences focused on the triceps. I used my 3lb weights and Shae used 1lb weights. I have to admit, after the first few workouts, I was a little concerned that we'd be working so much lower body, that I'd have to supplement the upper body work. Looks like that will not be the case!
At the end of the workout, in 35 minutes, I burned 245 calories! It was nice to see the big jump in calorie burn as compared with the sample and prep workouts. I only expect the program to get harder as we work through the four phases. Tomorrow is Cardio Blend, and I'll be doing that one alone as Shae has a long basketball practice in the evening that will substitute as her cardio work.
One quick note before I head to the next review. I'd love to hear your feedback on these posts as well as my YouTube reviews. This is all pretty new to me and while a small part of this is just me journaling and making my thoughts public, I want to make sure that I'm including content that will be helpful for all of you!
Cheers!
